Wausau Name Change

Marathon County Youth Hockey is thrilled to announce a significant and exciting change: the organization will be returning to its original name of Wausau Youth Hockey. This decision comes after careful consideration and extensive feedback from our members, partners, and the community at large.

The new name, Wausau Youth Hockey, reflects the organization's deep and originating connection to the city of Wausau and its surrounding communities. By aligning our name with the city that has been a crucial part of our history and growth, we aim to strengthen our identity and deepen our roots within the local community.

The decision to change the name was not taken lightly. Marathon County Youth Hockey has a proud legacy of providing exceptional hockey programs and fostering the development of young athletes. However, we recognized the need for a name that truly captures our geographical location and enhances our connection to the region we serve.

As Wausau Youth Hockey, we remain dedicated to our core mission of promoting youth participation in ice hockey, fostering sportsmanship, and developing athletes both on and off the ice. Our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all players remains unwavering. With this name change, we hope to continue strengthening our programs and expanding opportunities for young hockey enthusiasts across the region.

Wausau Youth Hockey will continue to be known as the Warjacks. There will be minimal rebranding as the Warjack name, logo, and colors will continue. We are excited to embark on this journey and look forward to unveiling the refreshed jerseys with our Wausau name in the coming months.

We would like to express our gratitude to the entire Marathon County community for their continued support and passion for youth hockey. We are confident that this name change will enhance our organization's presence, promote our shared values, and foster an even stronger sense of unity and pride among our players, families, coaches, and supporters.

Warjack Core Values

A coach is someone who tells you what you don’t want to hear, who has you see what you don’t want to see, so you can be who you always known you could be. WARJACKS GROW.

Work Ethic:

To have the will or mental toughness to consistently work hard to improve physical skills, mentality, and hockey knowledge to intentionally improve as a hockey player. Intentional effort to improve and play to the topof your ability. WARJACKS NEVER STOP

Being accountable means doing everything within your power to compete to the best of your abilities and contribute to the team. Being accountable entails controlling only those things that you can control: preparation, attitude, skill development, training, effort and focus. WARJACKS GIVE 100%.

Players represent their teammates, coaches, families, and association. All Warjack players and families will be respectful to opponents and referees, and will exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. WARJACKS PLAY WITH CLASS.

The ability to work together toward a common vision and to direct individual accomplishments toward team success. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. WARJACKS STICK TOGETHER.
